AIC Sweeps Past Bentley, 3-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Jana Potic (Belgrade, Serbia) had 13 kills and two teammates also reached double figures in that category as American International College cruised to a 3-0 victory over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

In a match that did not see a single lead change or tie, AIC swept by the Falcons 25-15, 25-11 and 25-14. The Yellow Jackets (7-8, 2-2 NE10) opened the first set with an 8-2 run, jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second after scoring the first five points and started the third with an 11-3 burst.

In addition to the 13 kills from Potic, AIC received 11 from senior Diva Rivas-Reyes (Tucson, Ariz.) and 10 from sophomore Andrea Serra (Toa Alta, P.R.) with each of the latter two hitting over .300. Junior setter Dolores Kopren (Novi Sad, Serbia) accumulated 30 assists and four aces, and senior libero Evelyn Lopez (Indio, Calif.) made 22 digs.

AIC swung at a .292 success rate and finished with 17 more kills, an 11-1 advantage in aces and 15 more digs. Bentley hit only .027 with 24 kills and 21 errors.

Sophomore Mallory Burbage (Bow Mar, Colo./Littleton HS) led Bentley with six kills and nine digs.

Bentley (6-8, 2-1 NE10) will host Stonehill College Friday evening and Southern Connecticut State Saturday afternoon.
