Bruno Helps Bentley Sweep Florida Tech; Embry-Riddle Bests the Falcons in 2nd Match

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Senior middle Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker HS) hit .526 with a dozen kills to lead Bentley University to a 3-0 sweep of Florida Institute of Technology Saturday morning during the Bahama House Labor Day Volleyball Classic at Embry-Riddle University's ICI Center. The scores were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-18.

The win was the only one for Bentley in four matches during the two-day tournamwnt, which concluded with the Falcons falling to Embry-Riddle in three sets Saturday afternoon.

Bruno, who led the Northeast-10 in hitting percentage last year, had two kills in the first set, six in the second and four in the third.

Bentley also received a strong effort from freshman Shannon Ngo (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda HS). She finished with seven kills, a .429 hittingt percentage and five blocks.

Senior setter Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North HS) contributed 26 assists, two kills and a pair of aces, and senior Emily Barthelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) recorded 17 digs.

Bentley hit .309 with only six errors in 97 swings.

Embry-Riddle pushed its record to 5-1 with the 25-20, 25-11, 25-15 win in the afternoon match.

Erika Barbour (Tallahassee, Fla.) on 42 of the team's 46 kills, and Olivia Roa (Port Orange, Calif.) made 24 digs.

Freshman Amanda Parket (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) led Bentley (1-5) with five kills, and Ngo had her hands on five blocks.

Bentley will be back on the road next weekend for the Post Eagles Invitational at Post University.
