Strong Hitting by Sophomores Lifts Bentley Past Merrimack in 3

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Four sophomores and a freshman all had six or more kills and a hitting percentage over .300 as Bentley University rolled to a three-set sweep over Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday evening on Hammel Court. The scores were 25-16, 25-17 and 25-10.

Bentley improved to 16-7 overall and 7-3 in the NE10, good for a tie for third place in the conference. Merrimack slid to 4-18 on the season, including 1-7 NE10.

Sophomore Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenville School) and freshman Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) led the strong hitting for the Falcons. Milner had a success mark of .345 while totaling 14 kills, and Segaline hit .308 hitting percentage with 11 kills.

Sophomore Caitlin Corcoran (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) swung at a .538 clip with seven kills and no errors in 13 attacks. Two more sophomores, Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Frances Parker School) and Mari Boyer (Arvara, Colo./Bloomfield HS), each added six kills while hitting .400 and .308, respectively.

Handling the distribution was junior Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rocks North HS), with 34 assists.

Bentley, as a team, finished with a.361 hitting percentage and held the home team to just .071. The Falcons trailed only once (1-0 in the 2nd) and seized control with runs of 6-2 to finish the first, 7-0 early in the second and 9-0 to start the third.

Bentley is off until Sunday afternoon when it will host LIU Post at 1 pm.
