Bentley Stretches Win Streak to 5 with Sweep of Assumption

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore outside hitter Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School) had her 11th double-double of the season and senior libero Celia Cristofoli (Fort Collins, Colo./Hudson (Ohio) HS) eclipsed 1,000 digs for her career as Bentley University swept Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday evening at the Dana Center.

The 25-13, 25-14, 25-21 victory extended Bentley's win streak to five and gave the Falcons a 9-1 record over its last ten matches.

Milner finished with 13 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and two aces while turning in her best hitting night of the season, .393. She started fast with five kills in eight swings during the opening set.

Cristofoli paced the Falcons with 18 digs, elevating her career total to 1,012.

Also contributing to the victory were sophomores Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Frances Parker School) and Caitlin Corcoran (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS), who combined for 16 kills and only one error. Bruno hit .583 with eight kills and Corcoran matched her in the kill column, hitting .444. They were also contributors defensively with Bruno involved in three blocks and Corcoran two.

Sophomore Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) handled setting duties in the first two sets, recording 23 assists, and junior Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North HS) had 13, along with four digs and two kills, in the third.

Bentley (14-5, 7-1 NE10) closed out each set with a significant run, beginning with 7-0 and 9-1 in the first. It was 8-1 to finish the second and 10-5 at the end of the third.

Assumption (4-12, 2-5 NE10) was limited to 23 kills and a .009 hitting percentage.

The Falcons will also be at home on Thursday, hosting New Haven in a battle for first place in the conference.
