Segaline Named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – After an outstanding start to her college career during the Hoffman Memorial Tournament, Bentley University freshman outside hitter Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./ Desert Mountain HS) was recently named the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 3.

Playing on what will be her home court for the next four years, Segaline gave the Falcons 2.77 kills and 3.31 digs per set with Bentley winning three of four. She debuted with a 14-kill, 16-dig double-double against Southern New Hampshire, and served three aces against Mercy.

Four of her teammates – senior libero Celia Cristofoli (Fort Collins, Colo./Hudson HS (Ohio)), junior setter Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North HS) and sophomores Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School) and Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Frances Parker School) – were also recognized with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll.

During the opening weekend, Bruno hit a conference-best .472 while averaging 2.79 kills, 0.71 blocks and 3.2 points. She had a career-high 17 kills with a .593 hitting percentage against Wilmington, a .700 success rate (7-0-10) against Mercy and five blocks against Southern New Hampshire.

Milner averaged 3.18 kills, 2.91 digs, 0.55 blocks, 0.45 aces and 3.9 points during the tournament. She had a pair of double-doubles with 12 kills and 14 digs against Southern New Hampshire and 12 and 10 against Caldwell. She also had 16 points and four blocks in the latter match.

Cristofoli averaged 5.79 digs, second best in the conference over the opening weekend, and 0.36 aces in the season's first four matches. She had at least 20 digs in three of the four matches and three aces against Southern New Hampshire.

Campbell had the conference's third best assist average, recording 10.4 a set during the Falcons' first four matches of 2017. She had a double-double against Southern New Hampshire (39 assists, 10 digs, 2 blocks) and 34 assists against Caldwell.
