Bentley Volleyball Adds 6 to Roster; All Hail from Different States

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University women's volleyball coach Joey Pacis has bolstered his 2016 roster with the addition of six incoming freshmen, all from different states, including four from west of the Mississippi.

Making the long trek east to join the Falcons will be Mari Boyer (Arvada, Colo./Broomfield HS), Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker HS), Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) and Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School).

The list of incoming also includes Emily Barthelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) and Caitlin Corcoran (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS).

Barthelmes will be joining her older brother Brad, a member of the Falcons' track team, at Bentley. A setter and defensive specialist, she was a two-year captain at Hendrick Hudson High, as well as a captain for her Downstate Juniors Volleyball Club team. Her list of accolades includes All-League, All-County, All-Section and second-team All-State.

Boyer, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, was the team MVP and captain for Broomfield as a senior. The All-Region selection also was a team captain for her Juggernaut Volleyball Club team.

Bruno comes to Bentley after being the team captain for the San Diego Volleyball Club 18-1 team. The six-foot middle hitter was a two-time Union Tribune All-Academic selection.

Corcoran, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker and right side, earned Class AAA All-State honors last fall in Pennsylvania. She earned All-League accolades three times and helped Perkiomen Valley to the PAC 10 championship, serving as team captain, as well as the school's first-ever appearance in the state tournament.

The 5-foot-11 Lopp, whose first name is pronounced Zee'-oh, was selected to the Class AA All-State second team after helping the Flathead Bravettes reach the state tournament. A setter who also plays right side, she was a team captain for Flathead as a senior and a two-time All-Conference pick. In addition to volleyball, Lopp lettered in softball and basketball, and also competed for the Flathead and Outlaws volleyball clubs.

Milner, a six-footer who plays both right side and outside hitter, was a three-time selection for the All-Southwest Preparatory Conference team. She served as a team captain for her high school team, the Greenhill Hornets, and was a two-year team MVP.

Bentley, which graduated four rotation players from last year's 18-10 team, opens its season with a tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Sept. 2-3.
