Kreienberg Helps Bentley to 3-0 Win over Saint Anselm

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior middle blocker Shelby Kreienberg (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS) hit .450 with nine kills, no errors and three blocks as Bentley University swept past Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday evening at the Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.  The scores of the 3-0 match were 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20.

Bentley, 12-6 overall and 5-1 NE-10, has now won 11 of its last 13, as well as its last three with the latest victory boosting the defending conference regular season champs into second place. Saint Anselm, 0-29 all-time against the Falcons, dropped to 6-9 overall and 2-3 conference.

Kreienberg was one of three double-digit scorers for the Falcons with her 10.5 points exceeded by sophomore outside hitter Shannon Kelly (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt HS) (12) and senior outside hitter Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Rocky Mountain HS) (11). Kelly finished with 11 kills, six digs and one ace while Buscher followed with 10 kills, six digs and a block.

Bentley trailed 17-15 in the opening set before running off five in a row as part of 10-3 spurt. That 5-0 include a kill and a block by Buscher, as well as an ace from freshman setter Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rocks North HS).

It was a similar story in the second when the Falcons erased a 17-16 deficit with a 9-2 run that included two kills and an ace from Kelly.

In the third, Bentley ran off five unanswered to open a 20-13 lead and cruised to the victory.  The match ended with a shared block by Kreienberg and sophomore McKenna Buck (Renton, Wash./ Holy Names HS).

Campbell finished with 29 assists and two aces, and senior libero Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS) had a team-best 17 digs.

Bentley is on the road again Thursday for a 7 pm match at Southern Connecticut.
