Bentley Tops Assumption in Four to Extend Winning Streak to 7

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) provided the assist on 48 of her team's 53 kills and classmate Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./ Northville HS) finished with 19 digs and three aces as Bentley University improved to 7-0 in October with a 3-1 win over Assumption College at the Laska Gymnasium.

Assumption took the opening set, 25-20, but the visiting Falcons were in control the rest of the night, prevailing 25-14, 25-19 and 25-15 over the next three to improve to 13-7 overall and 8-2 in the conference. The Greyhounds fell to 5-12 overall and 3-7 NE-10.

Tator's 48 assists, a season-best for a four-set match, helped three Falcons reach double figures in kills and a fourth come within one of joining that group. Junior Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./ Green Mountain HS) had a match-high 12, senior Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) put down 11, senior Simone Silvera (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook HS) recorded ten with a .444 hitting percentage, and senior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) finished with nine.

Buscher also had 11 digs as she registered her sixth double-double of the season, and Silvera had a team-leading three blocks.

Bentley seized control of the second set with a 9-2 spurt that extended a one-point lead to eight, 17-9. Three of those points came on aces with Dominguez serving two and Buscher one.

Buscher had six kills and Tator 14 assists in a third set that saw the Falcons close with an 11-6 charge. Tator duplicated that effort in the fourth with both Silvera and Dominguez making five kills.

Bentley hit .261 overall, its second best hitting percentage of the season, and picked it up over the final two, swinging at a .369 success rate.

Bentley will be on Long Island this weekend for matches at LIU Post Friday night and New York Tech Saturday.
