Hurwitz, Davies Lead Bentley During BU David Hemery Valentine’s Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS) and sophomore Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead) were among the top performers for the Bentley University women's indoor track and field team Friday during the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.

Both posted virtually identical times, 9.38 seconds, in the 60 meter hurdles. Competing in a field of 72, Hurwitz was credited with 15th place and Davies was 16th. Hurwitz' time put her at number nine on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list. Davies is already fifth on the list after posting a school record 9.21 a week ago.

Bentley also had success in the 200 meters with Hurwitz moving to number five in Bentley history with a 26.53 as she improved on her previous best by 0.71 seconds. Senior Dom Balzora-Rivera (Templeton/Narragansett Reg. HS) ran a season-best 26.72 and senior Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./ Manhattan Center for Science and Math) climbed to seventh on the all-time program list with a 26.97, a PR by 0.11 seconds.

Lewis also achieved a PR in the 400 with her time of 1:01.53 an improvement of 0.61 seconds on her previous best.

In the 800 meters, freshman Julia Hultin (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) improved on her PR by 0.53 seconds with a 2:27.68. Season bests were achieved by junior Abby Caulfield (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) (2:35.51) and junior Amanda McElroy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston HS) (2:40.30).

Bentley will be back in action Saturday with the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.
