Mattson, Bilodeau Earn 3rd-Place Finishes at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –Senior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) and freshman teammate Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS)) each turned in a third-place performance to lead the Bentley University women's track and field team during the Bryant University Black and Gold Invitational Saturday.

Bilodeau's third came in the 10,000-meter race, which included 15 runners. Her time of 41:01.98 boosted her to second on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list and ninth in Bentley program history.

Mattson was third of 17 in the triple jump with her distance of 37 feet, 4.5 inches coming within three-quarters of an inch of her own school record. It was the third best recorded in the NE10 so far this season.

Mattson's return to her native state also included finishing 16th of 52 in the 200 meters (26.64 seconds) and being part of a 4x100 relay team that was sixth of 11 in 50.67, a time that ranks ninth on Bentley's all-time list. Also running that relay were freshman Chinwe Agabazue (Hillside, N.J./Hillside HS) and juniors Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science and Math) and Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/ Narragansett Reg. HS).

Mattson was also part of the Falcons' 4x400 relay team that was eighth of 15 in 4:13.61. That group also included senior Abby Forman (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland HS), freshman Kaitlyn Helfer (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) and junior Kirsten Lebreux (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford HS).

Earlier in the day, Balzora-Rivert was 16th of 44 in the 100 (13.38) and 23rd of 52 in the 200 (27.55).

Bentley, which was 11th of 12 in the team scoring, will compete in the University of New Hampshire Invitational next Saturday.
