Mattson Named Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – After breaking one of her school records for the tenth time this winter, Bentley University senior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

The latest record to fall occurred Sunday during the Boston University Last Chance Meet. This one came in the 400 meters with her time of 56.71 seconds improving on the mark she set earlier in the month by 0.14 seconds. She placed 12th among 47 runners while making a change to the record book for the 32nd time in her career.

It was the fourth time in her career she's broken the school record in the 400. Mattson first achieved the feat with a 58.41 in the 2017 Greater Boston Track Club Invitational.  She ran at 57.43 at the 2018 New Englands and bettered that with a 56.85 in the BU David Hemery Valentine's Invitational on Feb. 8.

The indoor season has also seen Mattson break the 200 record once, the 500 four times and the triple jump three times.
