Mattson Does It Again, Breaks Own School Record for 3rd Time in 4 Meets

BOSTON, Mass. – For the time in four meets this winter, Bentley University senior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) broke one of her own school records.

After twice breaking her own mark in the 500, the latest came on Friday in the 200 meter dash during the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic at the BU Track and Tennis Center.

Mattson, in her first 200 of the season, posted a time of 25.77 to better the mark that she set on the same track last February by 0.19 seconds. Her time was good for 36th place in a field of 157 runners and put her at number seven on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list.

Mattson came close to breaking another one of her own records with her leap of 36 feet, 7 inches in the triple jump only a half-inch shy of the standard. She finished 14th in a field of 38 with her effort good for sixth on the NE10 list.

Mattson's day also included finishing seventh of 48 in the long jump with a 17'11.75". That tied her for second on the season's NE10 list.

Junior Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/Narragansett Reg. HS) had a solid effort in the 60, finishing 13th of 38 in 8.22 seconds.

Sophomore Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS) finished 20th of 34 in the 60 hurdles (9.75) and was also 30th of 48 in the long jump (16'6.25").

Next weekend, Bentley will compete in the New Englands at the Reggie Lewis Center.
