Mattson Receives USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors for 2nd Time; Both Bentley Track Teams Also Recognized for Success in Classroom

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight year, Bentley University rising senior and track standout Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors from the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association.

To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and achieved a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor seasons.

In addition, the Bentley men's and women's track and field teams both received All-Academic team recognition from the USTFCCCA for achieving at least a 3.00 GPA during the year. The Falcon men turned in the second highest GPA nationally in Division II for the fourth straight year, achieving an impressive 3.43. The Bentley women also excelled, posting a 3.45.

Coach Kevin Curtin's team was one of just nine East Region institutions to have both teams earn All-Academic honors. It's the eighth straight year both the Falcon men and women were honored.

Mattson, who has amassed a sensational 3.97 GPA while majoring in both actuarial science and business studies, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships by posting a distance of 18 feet, 8 inches during the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

USTFCCCA All-Academic is the latest in long list of honors, both academic and athletic, for Mattson, who owns school records in 13 events. Among them are All-New England, USTFCCCA Division II All-East Region, second-team All-Northeast-10, Google Cloud Academic All-District and Academic All-Northeast-10.
