Mattson Runs to 2nd in 400 at Northeast-10 Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After setting two school records and finishing fifth in the long jump on Friday, Bentley University junior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) continued to excel as the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University.

Mattson was the silver medalist in the 400 meters, finishing in 56.97 seconds to trail Adelphi's Victoria Major by 0.72 seconds. She also finished sixth in the 200, reaching the line in 25.86, and was part of the Falcons' 4x400 relay that was ninth in 4:07.05.

In addition to Mattson, Bentley received a sixth-place performances from sophomore Paige Fehskens (Wareham, Mass./Wareham HS) in the 5,000 (18:56.66).

Bentley finished the meet with 18 points, putting the Falcons tenth among 12 teams. Stonehill College claimed the team title comfortably, outscoring runner-up Southern Connecticut State, 248-148.5.

Bentley will compete in the New Englands this coming weekend at Dartmouth College.
