EASTON, Mass. – A school record in the 4x100 meter relay topped the list of highlights for the Bentley University women's outdoor track and field team during the Stonehill College Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium Saturday.

Junior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) anchored a quartet that also included sophomores Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/Narragansett Reg. HS) and Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./ Manhattan Center for Science and Math), along with senior Monica Levy (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun HS). They combined to finish sixth overall in 49.56 seconds, a time that ranks sixth on the season's Northeast-10 Conference performance list.

They broke a record of 49.74, set by Kristen Godfrey, Kristen LaFontaine, Lauren Newell and Marcie Beauzile at the 2002 Northeast-10 Championships.

Mattson, who now has her name attached to 13 school records (five outdoor, eight indoors), also finished sixth of 48 in the 200 meters (25.94 seconds) and fifth of 24 in the long jump (18'5.25").

Balzora narrowly missed breaking Godfrey's school record in the 100 meters, coming up a hundredth of a second shy with a time of 12.80 seconds. That elevated her to second on Bentley's all-time list and was good for 11th in a field of 37. She was also 15th of 48 in the 200 (26.64) and 13th of 16 in the triple jump (33'5.75").

Freshman Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS) moved to second on Bentley's all-time list in the 100 hurdles, her 16.03 improving on her previous best by 1.53 seconds and putting her 17th among 31 athletes.

Hurwitz also set a PR in the long jump, improving on her previous best by more than four inches with a distance of 16'11.25". That was good for 14th of 24 in the meet and elevated her to fifth in program history.

Senior Courtney Loughnane (Canton/Canton HS) and sophomore Kaileigh Wimert (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) both scored in the 5,000 with Loughnane fifth (20:20.73) and Wimert sixth (20:59.56).

In the 3,000, sophomore Paige Fehskens (Wareham/Wareham HS) was ninth in 11:15.91.

Bentley totaled 21 points in the meet, good for 11th of 13 overall and fifth among Division II programs.

This coming Friday and Saturday, Bentley will be at Southern Connecticut State for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.
