Mattson Takes 1st During Sean Collier Invitational with NE10’s Best Time

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Bentley University's Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) continued a standout junior season by finishing first in the 400 meters during the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT Saturday. Her time of 56.74 seconds was not only her team's best of the year but marked the fastest 400 posted in the Northeast-10 Conference this season.

Mattson won the event by 4.18 seconds over MIT's Kristen Frombach with the victory the 14th of her career.

Also in the 400, Bentley sophomore Chantel Lewis (Manhattan Center for Science and Math) was third in a field of 33 with her 1:01.27 a new personal best by 0.22 seconds. Sophomore Kirsten Lebreux (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford HS) was sixth (1:03.37) and juinor Abby Forman (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland HS) was eighth in 1:03.83.

Lewis also helped Bentley finish third of ten in the 4x100 relay in 50.60 seconds, a time that ranks seventh in program history. That quartet also included senior Monica Levy (Merrick, N.Y./ Calhoun HS), sophomore Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/Narragansett Reg. HS) and freshman Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS).

Balzora-Rivert was also seventh of 50 in the 200, her time of 26.50 a PR and seventh best in program history. In addition, she was fifth of 18 in the triple jump while bettering her previous best by two feet with a distance of 35'1.75".

Freshman Paige Konsko (Orefield, Pa./Parkland HS) climbed into the top eighth on Bentley's all-time lists in both the discus (102'4.5") and the javelin (99'4.5"). She was sixth of 25 in the discus and seventh of 22 in the javelin.

Sophomore Paige Fehskens (Wareham/Wareham HS) ran the outdoor 1500 for the first time as a collegian and finished seventh of 36 with a 5:10.23.

Next Saturday, Bentley will be at Stonehill College for the Skyhawk Invitational.
