SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Bentley University junior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) was at her best Saturday during the UC San Diego Triton Invitational as she broke two school records, including her own mark in the long jump.

Mattson cleared 18 feet, 8.5 inches in the long jump, surpassing the standard she set at Stonehill last April by three-quarters of an inch. She placed ninth of 38 overall and vaulted to the top of the Northeast-10 Conference performance list.

Mattson's other school record came in the 200 meters with her 25.58 bettering the mark of 25.86 that Kristen Godfrey had owned since the 2003 Northeast-10 Championships. She was 14th in a field of 47 with her performance third best in the conference this season. It improved on her previous best by 0.56 seconds.

Mattson was also ninth of 56 in the 400 with her time of 57.50 second best on the NE10 performance list.

Sophomore Dom Balzora-Rivera (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett Reg. HS) also impressed on the other coast, setting new PRs in all three events she competed in. She ran the 100 in 12.91 seconds, fourth best in program history, and the 200 in 26.69, ninth best ever by a Falcon. Her 100 time improved on her previous best by 0.08 seconds and her improvement on her PR in the 200 was 0.78 seconds. Balzora-River also posted a 33'1" in the triple jump, more than three inches better than her previous best.

Sophomore Paige Fahskens (Wareham, Mass./Wareham HS) bettered her career-best in the 5,000 by more than 25 seconds, finishing 14th of 21 in 19:48.94.

Fehskens moved to 12th on Bentley's all-time list in the 5,000, as did senior Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Family HS) in the 1500. She was 33rd of 66, bettering her previous best by nearly two seconds with a 4:51.96.

Bentley was also in action at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational in New London, Conn. Standouts for the Falcons included sophomore Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science and Math), freshman Tina Touri (Watertown, Mass./Watertown HS) and a pair of freshmen,

Hayley Licata (Andover, Mass./Central Catholic HS) and Sydney Hurwitz (Newton, Mass./Newton North HS).

Licata was eighth of 30 in the triple jump and moved to number seven on Bentley's all-time list with a 33'4.75". Hurwitz, ninth of 25 in the 400 hurdles, cracked the program's top ten list at number nine with a 1:11.84.

Touri established a new personal best in the 800 (2:26.27) while finishing 26th of 73. That time put her at number eight on the NE10 performance list.

Lewis was 15th of 43 in the 499 (1:04.60) and 26th of 80 in the 200 (27.41).

Next Saturday, Bentley will be at MIT for the Sean Collier Invitational.
