Sihvonen & Caulfield Honored by the Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior All-America Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./ Lyman Memorial HS) has been selected as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference and Falcon freshman Abby Caulfield (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) has been named the NE10 Women's Track Rookie of the Week. Both were cited for their performance in Saturday's Black and Gold Invitational at Bryant University.

Sihvonen provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II championships in the javelin with a throw of 205'8" (62.68m). He finished third in the meet and is 11th on the D-II performance list. The 2016 Northeast-10 champion placed ninth at last spring's NCAA Division II championships.

In her first collegiate outdoor race, Caulfield ran the 800 meters in 2:27.35, good for third on the NE10 performance list. She was seventh overall in the event, including second among non-Division I competitors.

Two other Falcons were recognized with inclusion on the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll, junior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) and sophomore Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/ Thornton Academy).

Mattson posted the conference's best 400 meter time of the weekend, 57.81, as well as the fourth best 200 (26.14) and fifth best long jump (17'0.75", 5.20m). She placed fifth in the 400, fifth in the 4x100, ninth in the 200 and ninth in the long jump. In the individual events, 17 of the 19 student-athletes who finished ahead of her were from Division I institutions.

Arnold recorded the conference's best long jump performance of the weekend, 20'11.25" (6.38m), while placing fifth overall at Bryant's Black and Gold Invitational. He was also fifth in the 4x400 (3:31.18), eighth in the 4x100 (45.25) and tenth in the 200 (22.97), with the latter ranking third on the NE10 performance list.

This Saturday, Bentley will travel to Springfield to partake in the American International Invitational.
