Mattson Earns 4th All-New England Accolade with 6th-Place Finish

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bentley University junior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) gained All-New England honors for the fourth time in her career by placing sixth in the 400 meter finals Saturday during the New England Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Mattson finished in 58.06 seconds, trailing runners from Northeastern, Brown, Bryant and Boston College. The sixth-place finish mirrored where she qualified on Friday with a school-record 57.83.

Mattson previously earned All-New England honors in the long jump both indoors and out last year, as well as in the outdoor 400 last spring.

The only other event that Bentley ran on Saturday was the men's 4x400 with the Falcons 14th of 16 overall, and third among Division II competitors, with a 3:27.22. That quartet included senior David Stoffel (Luxembourg), freshman Robert Moritz (Singapore), sophomore Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS) and freshman Tristan Cronin (Harvard/Bromfield HS).

Next weekend, Bentley will be at Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational and the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.
