Mattson, Bolick Achieve All-New England Recognition

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./ Smithfield HS) achieved All-New England recognition for the second straight day and senior Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) earned the same honor for the first time as an individual as the New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded at Williams College Saturday.

Mattson, who finished seventh in the long jump on Friday, placed sixth in the 400 meters on Saturday. She recorded a time of 56.62 seconds in the finals after setting a school record of 55.93 in yesterday's prelims.

Mattson also finished tenth overall and third among Division II competitors in the triple jump after posting a distance of 37 feet, 1.25 inches.

Bolick was eighth of 30 in the 800 with his 1:51.68 meeting the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Division II Championships. It improved on his previous best by 0.83 seconds and moved him to second on Bentley's all-time list.

Also in the 800, junior Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) climbed to fourth in program history with his 1:53.26 improving on his PR by 0.84 seconds. He placed 17th in the event.

In the team standings, the Bentley men tied for 23rd overall (fourth Division II) with seven points and the Falcon women tied for 25th overall (eighth Division II) with five points.
