Mattson, Morena Lead Bentley During Yellow Jacket Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and sophomore Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) had the highest finishes for the Bentley University women's outdoor track and field team during Saturday's 7th Annual Yellow Jacket Invitational at American International College Saturday.

Morena  was the runner-up in the 5,000 meters, competing in a field of 40. Her time of 18:16.14 was the fifth best achieved in the Northeast-10 Conference this season and put her across the finish line 1.32 seconds after Stonehill's Nicole Borofski.

Mattson took second in the 400, her time of 59.26 seconds also the fifth best in the NE10 so far this spring. She reached the time 0.63 seconds after the winner, Southern Connecticut's Adriana Carrasco. Mattson's meet also included finishing 10th of 28 in the triple jump (32'9.75") and participating on Bentley's 4x400 relay team that was fifth among ten entrants in 4:23.13.

Senior Katie Burke (Braintree/Braintree HS) impressed in the 1500 meters, placing sixth in a field of 65 with a clocking of 5:03.80.

In the 800, junior Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) was seventh among 58 runners, her time of 2:26.46 elevating her to tenth on the NE10 performance list.

Freshman Kayla Fraser (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow HS) moved to tenth on Bentley's all-time list in the long jump, clearing 15'6.25" to improve on her PR by close to a foot. Overall, she was 14th among 42 participants.

Bentley totaled 25 points to finish 12th among 18 teams.

The next meet for Bentley is the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College Friday and Saturday.
