Mattson Leads Bentley During Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. – Sophomore Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) had the highest individual finish for the Bentley University women's indoor track and field team during Saturday's Dartmouth Invitational as she placed sixth in the long jump.

Competing in a field of 25, Mattson moved to number two on Bentley's all-time performance list in the long jump with her distance of 17 feet, 10.75 inches a PR by one and three-quarter inches.

Mattson also competed in the 60 meters for the first time in her career and responded with a time of 8.33 seconds. She finished 13th among 44 runners with her performance elevating her to 11th on the program's all-time list.

Mattson's day also included finishing eighth of 15 in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:18.97. That relay also included junior Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) and a pair of sophomores, Abby Forman (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland HS) and Steph Robinson (Randolph, N.J./ Randolph HS).

Bartolotta cracked the season performance list in the Northeast-10 Conference with her 3:13.61 in the 1,000 putting her 14th. She was 11th of 29 overall with freshman teammate Abbie Newman (Hanson, Mass./Whitman-Hanson Reg. HS) trailing her by two places with a time of 3:15.54.

The other Falcon who placed in the top 50 percent of her event was freshman Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett Reg.). She was 21st of 44 in the 60, finishing in 8.64 seconds.

On Friday, Bentley will compete in the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational at Boston University.
