BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./ Smithfield HS) broke the school record in the 300 meters while competing in the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational Sunday at Harvard University's Gordon Indoor Track.

Mattson finished second of 11 in the race, posting a time of 42.68 seconds to surpass the mark of 43.10 that belonged to Marcie Beauzile since 2000. Liz Pellegrini, competing as an individual, took first in 42.44 seconds.

Also in the 300, Falcon freshman Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science & Math) was second with her time of 45.23 ninth best in program history and sophomore Abby Forman (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland HS) was fifth (46.33).

Mattson had a busy meet as she was also second in both the long jump (29 competitors) and triple jump (eight athletes). Her 17'6.25" leap in the long jump was fourth best in the Northeast-10 Conference this season, and her 35'10" in the triple established a new personal best by eight inches. It elevated her to third on Bentley's all-time list and was eighth on the NE10 performance list.

Mattson also helped Bentley finish second of five in the 4x220 yard relay, combining with Lewis, junior Monica Levy (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun HS) and freshman Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/ Narragansett Reg. HS) for a time of 1:53.12. Lewis and Balzora-Rivert were also among 30 who competed in the 60 meters, finishing tenth (8.48) and 11th (8.58) respectively.

Senior Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) placed fifth of 26 in the 3,000 meters with her 10:40.75 a PR by 1.80 seconds.

Other meet highlights for the Falcons included Balzora-Rivert finishing third in the triple jump (34'9.75", a PR by 18 inches), sophomore Tina Touri (Watertown/Watertown HS) in the open 800 (2:37.88, a PR by 2.56 seconds), freshman Abbie Newman (Hanson/Whitman-Hanson Reg. HS) in the open 1000 (3:13.09) and junior Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) in the open 1000 (3:31.60).

The next action for the Falcons is the John Terrier Classic at Boston University Friday.
