BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Paige Fehskens (Wareham/Wareham HS) posted a victory in her collegiate indoor debut and sophomore Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) finished second in three different events as the Bentley University women's indoor track and field team launched its season Saturday during the UMass-Boston Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Fehskens broke the tape in the 3,000-meter run, capturing the 13-competitor event in 10:51.98. She had a winning margin of more than three seconds over Boston University's Natalie Obssuth.

After a solid freshman year, Mattson picked up where she left off by placing second in the 500 meters (9 competitors, 1:21.02), the long jump (35 competitors, 17'2.25") and the triple jump (17 competitors, 35'0.5"). She improved on her personal best in the 500 by 0.22 seconds and moved to number ten on Bentley's all-time list. Mattson was also part of the Falcons' 4x400 relay that placed fifth in 4:25.09.

Bentley had a pair of top eight finishers in the mile with junior Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) third of 33 (5:27.05) and freshman Abbie Newman (Hanson/Whitman-Hanson Reg. HS) eighth (5:40.58). Bartolotta's effort improved on her previous best by 8.28 seconds.

Two freshmen cracked Bentley's all-time list with their performances in their first collegiate competition.  Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/Narragansett Reg. HS) debuted with a tie for 12th in program history in the 60 meter dash, her time of 8.42 seconds putting her 19th out of 80. She also was 25th of 89 in the 200 with a 27.945. In the long jump, Kayla Fraser (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow HS) was 11th of 35 with her distance of 15'9.975" seventh in school history.

Bentley's next action will be the Reggie Poyau Invitational at Brandeis Jan. 14.
