Morena Has Highest Finish for Bentley Women in Northeast-10 Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University junior Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Regional HS) finished third in the 5,000 meters during Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center. It was the top showing for a Falcon in the championships.

Morena ran the meet's longest race in 18.25.21 to claim a bronze medal.  The only two to better that time were Emily Knox of Stonehill, 17:48.58, and Antonia Pagliuca of Assumption, 17:51.29.

Freshman Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) finished sixth of 25 in the long jump with her distance of 17 feet 9 inches a new personal best. It also elevated her into a tie for second on Bentley's all-time list in the event.

Mattson also scored in the triple jump, placing eighth of 21 with a distance of 34 feet, 6.25 inches.

Also achieving an eighth-place finish was sophomore Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./ Holy Trinity HS). That came in the 1000 with her time of 3:07.31 a PR by more than four seconds and good for 12th on the Falcons' all-time list.

Senior Olyvia Leahy (New Bedford/New Bedford HS) ran the fourth best 60 hurdle time in program history while placing 11th in 9.90 seconds.

As a team, Bentley was 10th of 11 with 12 points.

Next weekend, Bentley will complete the indoor season when the New Englands are held at Boston University.
