Mattson Leads Bentley Women at Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) was the top performer for the Bentley University women's indoor track and field team Saturday during the Reggie Poyau Invitational at Brandeis University's Gosman Center.

Mattson finished first in the 600 meter run (1:42.70), placed second in the long jump with a distance of 16'1.5" and was part of the Falcons' winning 4x200 relay, along with sophomore Courtney Wilson (Morrisonville, N.Y./Beekmantown Central HS) and freshmen Stephanie Robinson (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and Abby Forman (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland HS). That group finished in 1:56.04. Robinson also ran the 600, placing third in 1:52.00, and Wilson tied for fourth in the long jump (14'9.25").

Bentley's other second came from senior Arianne Bourgault (Fitchburg/Fitchburg HS), who ran the 5,000 meters in 20:19.48.

Senior captain Olyvia Leahy (New Bedford/New Bedford HS) took third in the 55 meter hurdles with her time of 9.50 a new personal best by eight-hundredths of a second. Another PR was set by junior Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) in the mile as she was fourth in 5:28.91, bettering her previous top time by 21.4 seconds.

As a team, Bentley finished fifth among six competing teams.

Next Sunday, Bentley will be at Harvard for the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational.
