Brennan, Sihvonen & Skarin Earn Weekly Honors from Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three members of the Bentley University outdoor track and field team, including junior distance runner Sarah Brennan (Quincy/Notre Dame Academy), have received weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance in last Friday's Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational.

Brennan was cited as the NE-10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week, freshman Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS) received a third consecutive NE-10 Men's Field Rookie of the Week honor, and freshman Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) was the choice as the NE-10 Men's Track Rookie of the Week.

Brennan was fifth, behind a pair of Division I runners, in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:27.04. That put her fifth on Bentley's all-time list and was the Falcons' best time since 2008.

Sihvonen placed first in the javelin for the third straight meet, using a throw of 174'6" to edge teammate Chris Ricci by 14 inches.  Skarin ran to a third-place finish in the 800 meters, crossing the line  in 1:56.44.

Two other Falcons, junior David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS) and senior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS), were also recognized with selection to the conference's Weekly Honor Roll.

Cooper finished first in the 3000 meters with his time of 9:05.83 giving him a winning margin of 3.61 seconds. It was also good for ninth on Bentley's all-time list.

For the third time this season, Froehlich broke her own school record in the hammer, exceeding her previous best by 22 inches with a throw of 125'2", good for ninth place overall.

This weekend, Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Friday and Saturday.
