Froehlich Breaks School Record in Hammer Again

NEW LONDON, Conn. – For the second straight week, Bentley University senior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton, Mass./Newton North HS) broke her own school record in the hammer throw while competing for the Falcon women's outdoor track and field team in the Silfen Invitational at Connectucit College.

Froehlich's throw of 123'4" was four feet, three inches better than her performance in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational last Saturday and put her eighth among 19 competitors in the meet. Froehlich also competed in the shot, placing 11th of 23 with a 30'1" heave.

In sticking with the field events, Bentley received strong performances from seniors Brynnan Farrington (Shirley, Mass./Ayer HS) and Jacqueline Carlson (Kensington, Conn./Berlin HS). Farrington was third of 23 in the shot, her 37'11.5" good for third on the season's Northeast-10 Conference performance list. Carlson was fourth of 18 in the javelin with her throw of 113'10" the fifth best recorded in the conference thus far.

Junior Sarah Brennan (Quincy, Mass./Notre Dame Academy), in her first action since cross country last November, posted the second fastest 5,000-meter time in the NE-10 so far, 18:13.62. That put her at number four on Bentley's all-time list and was a new personal best, bettering her former PR by about 85 seconds.

Freshman Monica Levy (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun HS) moved into the top ten in program history in both hurdles, posting times of 17.50 in the 100 and 1:14.42 in the 400. She placed ninth in the latter and 12th in the 100 hurdles. Levy also helped the Falcons finish fourth in the 4x100, combining with junior Olyvia Leahy (New Bedford, Mass./New Befford HS) and classmates Jennifer Girard (Simsbury, Conn./Westminster School) and Courtney Wilson (Morrisonville, N.Y./Beekmantown Central HS) for a time of 53.41 seconds.

In the team standings, Bentley was ninth of 14 with 25 points. Tufts captured the team title with 171.5 points, 28.5 more than runner-up Worcester State.

Bentley's schedule this week includes the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton and the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT.
