Froehlich Breaks Own School Record in the Hammer during Corsair Classic

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Bentley University senior two-sport standout Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) broke her own school record in the hammer throw during Saturday's Corsair Classic Women's Track Invitational at UMass-Dartmouth.

Froehlich released a throw of 118'9" to finish third of 18 in the meet and exceed the mark she set at the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Championships by a little more than five feet. It also put her at number ten on the current NE-10 performance list. In addition, the four-year Bentley volleyball player was 13th of 33 in the shot put (30'11.25").

Bentley's only victory on the day came in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with junior Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield/Lynnfield HS) breaking the tape in 12:32.26, third best in the conference so far this season.

The Falcons' list of three second-place finishes was headlined by senior Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS) in the shot put. Her throw of 35'6" put her sixth in the NE-10's performance list. Senior Jacqueline Carlson (Kensington, Conn./Berlin HS) was second of 11 in the javelin, her throw of 110'3" fifth best in the conference thus far this spring.

In the 1500 meters, sophomore Katie Burke (Braintree/Braintree HS) took second with her 5:11.01 a personal best by 5.92 seconds. Freshman Caroline Conrad (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS) was right behind her (5:13.69) and sophomore Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) was sixth (5:16.13).

Junior Dusty Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes HS) was third of 33 in the 800 meters (2:30.93) and freshman Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) placed sixth in 2:33.41.

In the team standings, Bentley was fourth of 17 with the Falcons' 71 points putting them behind Bridgewater State (143), UMass-Dartmouth (100) and Rhode Island College (74).

Next weekend, Bentley will be at Connecticut College for the Siffen Invitational.
