Carlson & Morena Top Individual Finishers for Bentley Women at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – Senior Jacqueline Carlson (Kensington, Conn./Berlin HS) and sophomore Julia Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) braved the cold to register the highest individual finishes for the Bentley University women's track and field team during the outdoor season-opening Tufts Snowflake Classic Saturday.

Carlson was third of 20 in the javelin with her throw of 110 feet, 2 inches second best recorded in the Northeast-10 Conference so far this season. Morena ran the 5,000 meters in 19:36.80, third best in the NE-10 to date, to place fifth out of 19. Right behind her was classmate Katie Burke (Braintree/Braintree HS), whose 19:38.70 improved on her personal best by about 30 seconds.

Bentley finished first in the 4x100 relay with freshman Jennifer Girard (Simsbury, Conn./ Westminster School), Monica Levy (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun HS) and Courtney Wilson (Morrisonville, N.Y./Beekmantown Central HS) combining with junior Olyvia Leahy (New Bedford/New Bedford HS) for a time of 53.53 seconds.

Wilson also cleared 15 feet, four inches in the long jump, a performance that put her at number nine on Bentley's all-time performance list. In the meet, she placed 11th of 22.

Also scoring for the Falcons was senior Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS), who was eighth of 35 in the shot put. She threw it 34 feet, 9.5 inches, the best so far in the NE-10 this spring.

As a team, Bentley was 11th of 17 overall with 24 points.

The next meet for the Falcons is the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday.
