Froehlich Breaks School Record in Pentathlon

MEDFORD, Mass. – Bentley University senior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) broke a 19-year-old school record in the indoor pentathlon Friday while competing in the Tufts Stampede at the Gantcher Center.

Froehlich totaled 2,458 points in the five-event competition, breaking the school record held by Dennee Noyes since 1995 by 70 points and improving on her own personal best by 127 points. Overall, she was eighth of 12.

Froehlich's highest finish came in the shot where she was third with her throw of 31 feet, 2 inches a new PR. She was fifth in the high jump, with her 4'7.75" matching her PR, and she earned a high of 570 points in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.80 seconds. In addition, she cleared 13'4.75" in the long jump and ran the 800 in 2:43.76.

While Froehlich was at Tufts, a number of others were over at the Boston University Track Center for the John Thomas Terrier Invitational. At least seven new PRs were achieved, including senior Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) in the 3,000 meters. Dooley won her heat in 10:12.97, improving her previous best by 7.47 seconds, and was 47th of 93 overall in the massive meet. Her time elevated her to number four on the Northeast-10 performance list.

In the 800, junior Dusty Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.Y./Pompton Lakes HS) won her heat in 2:32.96 and classmate Anna Pickett (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland HS) improved on her PR by 2.65 seconds with a 2:33.64.

Freshman Courtney Wilson (Morrisonville, N.Y./Beekmantown Central HS) was solid in her Bentley debut. She posted a 33'0.25" in the triple jump, a distance that ranks ninth in program history, and also rand the 200 in 27.85.

Two new personal bests were achieved in the mile, freshman Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) by about 12 seconds with a 5:36.21 and sophomore Danielle Coskren (North Andover/North Andover HS) by nearly four seconds with a 5:34.81.

On Saturday, Bentley will compete in the second day of the Tufts Stampede.
