Dooley Wins 3000 Meters at UMass-Boston Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Competing on a banked track for the first time, Bentley University cross country All-America Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) turned in a winning effort in the 3,000 meters as the Falcon women's track team opened its indoor season Saturday with the UMass-Boston Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Dooley ran away with the race, finishing about 40 seconds before her nearest challenger with her time of 10:20.44 elevating the senior to sixth on Bentley's all-time list in the event.

The 35-runner event also included three other Falcon runners in the top 11. Sophomore Danielle Coskren (North Andover/North Andover HS) was ninth (11:23.73) and she was followed across the finish line by freshmen Marianne Battolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) and Caroline Conrad (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS). Their times were 11:25.59 and 11:28.90.

Senior Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS) also had a strong season debut, placing fifth in a field of 47 In the shot put. Already third on Bentley's all-time indoor list in the shot, she improved on her PR by two inches with a throw of 37 feet, 10 inches.

In the 1,000 meters, junior Dusty Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes HS) improved on her PR by 0.95 seconds while finishing fifth of 13 in 3:20.44.

Bentley will have to wait about 50 days before its next meet, the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard Jan. 25.
