3 Bentley Student-Athletes Earn All-Region Honors from the USTFCCCAA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) and juniors Chris Ricci (Coventry, R.I./Bishop Hendricken HS) and Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS) earned Division II Outdoor Track and Field All-East Region honors from the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their performance during the spring season.

Nichols was recognized in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters while Ricci and Farrington were cited for their performances in the javelin and shot put, respectively.

The USTFCCCA awards All-Region honors to student-athletes who have the top five performances in each event in each region. Nichols' resume includes five All-Region citations (indoors 3000 this past winter, cross country last fall and in 2011) while Ricci and Farrington received the distinction for the first time.

Nichols, who was a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division II Championships, had the region's third-best 10K time, a school record 36:08.64 that she achieved at the Penn Relays, and the fifth-best performance in the 5,000 (17:41.57 at the New Englands in her final race as a collegian). That was good for third on Bentley's all-time list.

Farrington ranked fifth in the East Region in the women's shot put, achieving her throw of 39'0.25" during the New Englands on Saturday. That distance has been bettered by only two women in school history.

Ricci was fifth in the East in the men's javelin. His throw of 177'2", ninth best in program history, was achieved on April 5 during the Corsair Classic at UMass-Dartmouth.
