Higgins & Varsell Named to Academic All-Northeast-10 Team for Indoor Track

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and graduate student Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), middle distance runners at Bentley University, were recently named to the Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference team for indoor track.

Varsell earned All-Academic accolades for the eighth time and Higgins was recognized for the first time.

Varsell, a Summa Cum Laude graduate in May 2013 who is now working on her MS in Accountancy, earned her seventh career Division II All-America award when she placed fourth in the mile at the NCAA Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. in March. A seven-time All-New England honoree and two-time first-team Capital One Academic All-America, Varsell finished her career as Bentley's school record holder in six individual events (400 and 800 outdoors, 400, 500, 800 and 3000 indoors).

Higgins, who has amassed a 3.75 grade point average as a corporate finance and accounting major, was seventh in the 800 at the Northeast-10 indoor championships and also was part of a distance medley relay that finished sixth. During the indoor season, he established her personal bests in the 800 (1:58.01) and the mile (4:26.85).
