Albanese & Batzinger Set School Records during Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – A pair of Bentley University women's outdoor track and field records were broken by senior Aubrey Batzinger (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall) and sophomore Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield/Lynnfield HS) as the Falcons competed in the Tufts University Snowflake Classic at the Dussault Track Saturday.

Batzinger bettered the school record in the hammer by four feet, two inches with a throw of 108 feet, two inches. She finished 16th of 41 overall while taking possession of the standard owned by teammate Tatiana Froehlich since last last season.

\Albanese lowered the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by about 25 seconds as she placed third of five in 11:49.05. The former record of 12:14.06 was achieved by Meg Munroe in 2009.

Junior Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS) had a strong showing in the shot put with her throw of 35 feet, 11.5 inches putting her fourth in a field of 37.

Other Falcons who were among the top finishers in their respective events were freshman Danielle Coskren (North Andover/North Andover HS), junior Jackie Carlson (Kensington, Conn./ Berlin HS) and freshman Chayna McDermott (Milton/Milton HS).

McDermott was 11th of 29 in the long jump (14'10"), Coskren was 28th of 78 in the 1500 meters (5:06.73) and Carlson was 20th of 47 in the javelin with her throw an inch shy of 100 feet.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
