Batzinger & Simonini Top Performers for Bentley at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior Aubrey Batzinger (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall) and sophomore Joe Simonini (Revere/ Revere HS) were the top performers for the Bentley University track and field team as the outdoor season got underway with the Bridgewater State Bears Invitational Saturday.

Batzinger finished second of 26 in the discus with her throw of 121 feet, 9 inches moving her to third on Bentley's all-time list. It bettered her previous best by more than ten feet. She was also 14th of 25 in the hammer, matching her PR with a throw of 98 feet, 5 inches.

Also on the women's side, junior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) was 11th in the hammer, missing her own school record by just an inch with a throw of 103 feet, 11 inches. Junior Jacqueline Carlson (Kensington, Conn./Berlin HS) was 14th of 32 in the javelin after a distance of 95 feet, 9 inches.

In the men's javelin, Simonini was fifth of 26 (150'0") and sophomore Westley Dupray (Rowley/ St. John's Prep) followed in seventh, with his throw of 147 feet, 3 inches a new personal best.

Dupray was also 13th of 22 in the hammer (100'5") and freshman Phil Nash (Methuen/Central Catholic HS) was right behind him in 14th (99'6"). Freshman Michael Bitto (North Reading/North Reading HS) finished 10th of 20 in the long jump, clearing 18 feet, 2.5 inches.

Bentley is back in action this weekend a portion of the team competing in the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State and the rest at the Tufts Snowflake Classic.
