BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University graduate student and six-time All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) earned All-New England honors for the seventh time in her illustrious career Saturday during the final day of the New England Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Varsell finished fourth of 28 in the mile, finishing in 4:54.94. Three Division I runners preceded her across the line with Yolanda Ngarambe of Vermont winning in 4:46.72.

In the 3000 meters, senior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) established a new PR by nearly 11 seconds with a time of 10:10.74. She finished fourth in the unseeded heat and was 17th of 29 overall.

In the men's 4x800, the quartet of senior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS), junior Christian Connolly (Kingston/Silver Lake Reg. HS), sophomore Anthony Lacey (Ogdensburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and freshman Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) were 13th of 19 overall, and second among Division II entrants, with a time of 7:49.55. That ranked fifth on Bentley's all-time list and was the program's best in six years.

Freshman Matt Powell (Charlton/St. John's HS) wrapped up participation in the two-day heptathlon, finishing ten overall. His total of 3,921 points was just a shade off the school record of 3,935 that he set earlier this year at Tufts. His performances in the event included a personal best time of 2:55.01 in the 1,000 meters.

The fourth-place finish by Varsell put Bentley 25th in the final women's standings. A total of 36 teams scored in the meet.
