Varsell Posts Season-Best Time in 800 at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – Returning to his home state, Bentley University junior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./ Randolph HS) broke four minutes in the 1500 meters for the first time in his career while competing in the 1500 meters in the Larry Ellis Invitational Saturday at Princeton University.

Higgins won his heat in 3:59.83 and placed 17th of 54 overall and second amongst Division II athletes.

Senior John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) also competed in the 1500, with his time of 4:03.77 good for 32nd place.

Freshman Sean Nee (West Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) also had a successful trip to New Jersey with his 1:56.28 in the 800 meters a new PR by about two seconds. He was 17th of 36 overall, with 12 of the 16 in front of him Division I athletes.

On the women's side, senior All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) established a season-best in the 800, 2:20.46. That was good for 34th of 39 in a predominantly Division I field. Varsell also ran Friday night, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships in the 1500.

Coming up for the Falcons will be the Stonehill Classic Friday night and the Brown Springtime Invitational next Sunday.
