PRINCETON, N.J. – Bentley University senior All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track Championships with a strong performance Friday night in the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University.

Varsell qualified in the 1500 meters with her time of 4:33.33 in the women's Elite race the 14th best by a Division II woman this year.  She was first amongst Division II athletes, second of 15 in her heat and 18th of 41 overall. Of the 17 in front of her, 11 were from Division I institutions and four were club athletes.

The prestigious meet will continue on Saturday.

Most of Bentley's track team was scheduled to compete in the MIT Invitational Saturday, but that was cancelled on Friday afternoon due to the Boston Marathon manhunt.
