Nichols and Sacco Post PR's During New Englands

BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University junior Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) broke his own school record in the 200 meter preliminaries Friday night during the New England Championships at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center, with his time of 22.03 seconds improving on the mark he set on the same track a month ago by two-tenths of a second.

Kennedy also ran the 60, placing 23rd of 29 in 7.21 seconds.

Freshman Edy-Elliot Uthman Olukokun (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick HS) competed in the same two events and advanced to Saturday's semifinals in the 60 with a time of 7.06 seconds, placing ninth of 29 in the prelims. Uthman-Olukokun was also 17th of 34 in the 200 (22.35), and he cleared 20 feet, 11.25 inches in the long jump, placing 23rd overall.

Sophomore Anthony Charter (Hubbardston/Quabbin Reg. HS) and senior Sean Maguire (Essex, Vt./Essex HS) both had strong performances for the Falcons as well, both establishing new personal bests while moving to number four on Bentley's all-time list in the long jump and 5,000 respectively.

Charter finished ninth of 25, and second among Division II competitors, with a distance of 22 feet, 3.5 inches in the long jump. Maguire broke 15 minutes in the 5K for the first time, placing 11th of 31 in 14:55.13.

Freshman Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) set a new PR in the 1,000, placing 19th overall and fourth among Division II athletes in 2:31.18.

On the women's side, new personal bests were achieved by junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) in the 5,000 and freshman Dusty Rose Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes HS) in the 800. Nichols was 23rd in 18:22.97, good for fourth in Bentley history and fifth among Division II participants. Sacco was the number two Division II finisher and 25th overall with a 2:26.04.

The New England Championships conclude on Saturday.
