BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University's Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) continued an outstanding senior year by setting a Northeast-10 women's indoor track meet record while winning the 1,000 meters at the conference championships Saturday night at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Fahey's winning time of 2:57.22 was Bentley's best in the event since 1988 and put her at number two on the program's all-time list. She broke the existing meet standard of 2:57.38, owned by Stonehill's Christina Serematis for the past decade, and won the race by a significant margin, besting UMass-Lowell's Kelly Walton by 4.1 seconds.

Bentley had a pair of individual fifth-place finishes, junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./ Inglemoor HS) in the 5,000 (18:27.70) and sophomore Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS) in the shot put (37'2.5").

The Falcons also took fifth in the 4x800 relay, with Fahey running the second leg. Sophomore Alix Pettinella (Wingdale, N.Y./Arlington HS) led off and the final two legs were run by freshman Dusty Rose Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes HS) and sophomore Brittany Baudier (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd HS), with their time of 10:03.71 ranking tenth on Bentley's all-time list. Sacco was also eighth in the 800 (2:25.18), bettering her previous personal best by 6.7 seconds.

In the triple jump, senior Keisha Johnson (Randolph/Randolph HS) took seventh in 35 feet, 6.75 inches.

Bentley also finished eighth in the distance medley with freshmen Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield/Lynnfield HS) and Heather Piscatelli (North Haven, Conn./North Haven HS) partnered with a pair of juniors from Washington state, Heather Hallstrom (Federal Way, Wash./Todd Beamer Campus) and Nichols, for a 13:53.14.

Johnson's seventh in the triple jump, the meet's final event, helped the Falcons tie for seventh among the 11 participating teams, with a score of 26. UMass-Lowell, in its final NE-10 indoor championship, defended its title with a score of 216 points, winning by 93 over American International.

Next weekend, Bentley will be at Boston University for the New England Championships.
