Fahey Breaks Own School Record in Mile at Dartmouth with NCAA Provisional Time

HANOVER, N.H. – Bentley University senior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater, Mass./Coyle Cassidy HS) ran to victory in the mile Saturday during the Dartmouth Winter Classic with her time both a school record and an NCAA Division II provisional qualifier.

Fahey broke the tape in 4:57.72, bettering the standard she set last winter by 0.91 seconds. It was the best recorded by a Northeast-10 Conference athlete this winter, and put her at number seven on the NCAA Division II performance list. A total of 27 runners competed in the event.

The next highest finisher for the Falcon women's track and field team during the meet was posted by sophomore Brynnan Farrington (Shirley, Mass./Ayer HS), who was seventh of 25 with a throw of 37 feet, 3.25 inches.

Sophomore Melanie Lilly (Lawrence, Mass./Lawrence HS), in her college debut, was 21st of 57 in the 200 meters (28.15) and she also ran the 60 in 8.64 seconds, placing 19th of 35. Alix Pettinella (Wingdale, N.Y./Arlington HS), also a sophomore, established a new PR in the 800, finishing 17th of 41 in 2:27.81.

On Friday night, the Falcons will compete in the Boston University Valentine's Invitational.
