Fahey Runs to Victory in 1000 During Reggie Poyau Memorial

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) accounted for the only win for the Falcon women's indoor track team during Friday night's Reggie Poyau Memorial at Brandeis University.

Fahey reached the finish line in the 1,000 meters in 3:02.69, giving her a margin of victory over runner-up Kelsey Whitaker of Brandeis of about six-and-a-half seconds. She was also part of the Falcons' 4x400 meter relay team that placed third in a hand- timed 4:14.9.

Bentley had two athletes score in both the 400 and the long jump. In the 400, freshman Kendal Pratt (Topsfield/Masconomet Reg. HS) and sophomore Vanessa Wegner (Westborough/Westborough HS) took second and third, respectively, with times of 1:02.22 and 1:02.91. Both joined Fahey on the 4x400 relay team, along with senior Andrea Crowley (Bourne/Bourne HS).

Senior Keisha Johnson (Randolph/Randolph HS) was third of 17 in the long jump, with her distance of 16 feet, 6.5 inches elevating her to second on Bentley's all-time list. Crowley also established a PR in the event, with her jump of 16 feet, 4.5 inches good for fifth place. Johnson's evening also included a second in the triple jump as she cleared 35 feet, three inches.

Freshman Dusty Rose Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes HS) was third of 13 in the 800 (2:31.79), and sophomore Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS) moved to third in Bentley history in the shot with her throw of 37 feet, 2.5 inches putting her third in the event.

Junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) was fifth of 26 in the 3,000 (10:56.83) and sophomore Alix Pettinella (Wingdale, N.Y./Arlington HS) picked up a point by placing sixth in the mile (5:53.71).

Bentley tied with Keene State for third in the eight-team meet, amassing 59 points.  UMass-Lowell cruised to victory with 223 points, and Stonehill College took second (86).

The next meet for the Falcons is about six weeks away, the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational on Jan. 20.
