WALTHAM, Mass. – Three Bentley University juniors, including three-time All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), and sophomore Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./ Randolph HS)  have been named to the 2011-12 Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track team.

Joining Varsell and Higgins on the list of honorees were junior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) and Sean Maguire (Essex, Vt./Essex HS). The four outstanding student-athletes are all corporate finance and accounting majors with GPAs exceeding 3.6.

It's the fourth appearance for Varsell on an NE-10 All-Academic team as she was selected in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track during her sophomore year. Fahey has twice been recognized in cross country, but this is her first in track.

Varsell, the Division II East Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year, finished third in the 800 at the NCAA Division II Championships after previously capturing the event at the New England Championships and repeating as Northeast-10 800 champ. The five-time member of the President's List placed fourth in the nationals in the 800 both indoors and out as a sophomore.

Fahey, during the Boston University Valentine's Invitational in February, became only the second woman in Bentley history to break five minutes in the mile, posting a 4:58.63 to set a new school record. Also a CFA major, the All-Region honoree was eighth in the NE-10 championships in the mile and ranks third on Bentley's all-time list in the 1,000. She's been on the Dean's List every semester.

Maguire placed fifth in the 5,000 at the conference championships in 15:19.33 and 15th in the same event during the New England championships, with his time in that meet a personal best 15:03.62. That's good for eighth on Bentley's all-time indoor list in the 5K. Maguire has earned a spot on the President's List during each of his first five semesters.

Higgins, a three-time member of the President's List, finished 15th in the mile (4:27.69) and seventh in the distance medley relay (10:55.58) during the Northeast-10 Championships. He was also 20th overall in the 1000 at the New Englands with his time of 2:34.46 a personal best.

The Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives.
