Varsell, Farrington Honored by Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Two members of the Bentley University women's outdoor track and field team, junior All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) and freshman Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS), have been recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference following their strong performances this past weekend.

Varsell was selected as the Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season and the fifth time in her career, and Farrington was cited as the Women's Field Rookie of the Week.

During the Raleigh Relays, Varsell provisionally qualified for the NCAAs in the 800 meters with her time of 2:11.74 tying for the fourth best by a Division II woman this spring. She was 15th of 25 overall, with 13 of the 14 runners in front of her from Division I institutions. Her time was just 0.67 seconds off the school record she set at the nationals last May.

In addition, Varsell won her heat and was 29th of 63 overall in the 1500 with a PR and New England-qualifying time of 4:37.21.

At the Tufts Snowflake Classic, Farrington threw the shot put 34 feet, 3 inches, a performance that elevated her to number four on Bentley's all-time list. Overall, she was 14th of 45 in the event.

This Saturday, Bentley will compete in the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell.
