Preview: Bentley Set to Take on Franklin Pierce in NE10 Quarterfinals on Wednesday

The Matchup: After sweeping past Saint Anselm 4-0 in the first round of the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championships on Sunday, the Bentley Falcons are matched up with Franklin Pierce in the quarterfinals.

The match gets underway on Wednesday at 12:30 pm in Nashua, New Hampshire.

The Falcons are the No. 8 seed in the tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-0 sweep of No. 9 seed Saint Anselm on Sunday. Bentley took the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. Those pairs were Alessa Matuty and Makena Romagnano in No. 1, and Libby Keefe and Grace Bennett in No. 3.

Bentley then won three singles matches in a row to close out the match. Matuty first won in No. 2 (6-1, 6-1). Romagnano was victorious in No. 1 (6-1, 6-2) and Zoe Chin closed out the match in No. 4 (6-2, 6-3).

Franklin Pierce entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed after they went 9-0 in the regular season. No. 1 singles player Maria Aguilo was named the NE10 Rookie of the Year and second team All-Conference. No. 3 singles player Liria Loria, No. 4 singles player Laura Tello and No. 5 singles player Zoe Correa were also named second team All-Conference.

The other quarterfinal matches on Wednesday have No. 2 Adelphi vs. No. 7 Assumption. No. 3 Stonehill against No. 6 New Haven and No. 4 Le Moyne against No. 5 Southern New Hampshire.

The semifinals are scheduled for Friday and the championship match on Sunday.
