Waltham, Mass. – Bentley's Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) was named the NE10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, and Miruna Constantin (Ploiesti, Romania) was chosen as the Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Both players won in singles and doubles in Bentley's 6-1 victory over Shippensburg on Sunday, which kicked off the team's Florida spring break trip.

Matuty combined with freshman Makena Romagnano for a 6-4 win in No. 1 doubles, while Constantin and sophomore Alyssa Cook teamed for a 6-2 victory in No. 3 doubles.

When the action shifted to singles, both continued their winning ways. Matuty dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 1 match, and Constantin swept to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 6.

This is the third career NE10 weekly award for Matuty, who was named the Rookie of the Week twice last season.
