Matuty Wins in Singles but Bentley Falls to Unbeaten District of Columbia 5-2

Beverly, Mass. – Sophomore Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) won in No. 1 singles, but the District of Columbia improved to 9-0 on the season with a 5-2 victory over the Bentley women's tennis team on Saturday at the Bass River Tennis Club.

Matuty defeated UDC's No. 1 player Simone Parn in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6. But the Firebirds claimed four other singles matches, to build upon the doubles point they earned.

Bentley will next take on Assumption on Sunday in a NE10 match, played at Brandeis at 12:00 pm.
