Women’s Tennis Tripped Up by Saint Michael’s 4-3

Colchester, Vt. – Saint Michael's winning the doubles point was the difference as the host Purple Knights defeated the Bentley women's tennis team 4-3 on Saturday in an NE10 match.

The teams split the six singles matches, but Saint Michael's prevailed in the doubles portion to earn the point and proved to be the difference.

Bentley won the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles matches, with the No. 2 and No. 6 matches going to the Purple Knights in three sets.

Sophomore Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) won her third singles match in a row, as she dispatched Abby Ramsay at No. 1, 6-3, 7-5. Freshman Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) defeated Caroline Summer at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1 and freshman Anna Higgins (Andover, Mass./Andover) bested Abby Edelmann at No. 4, 6-3, 6-3.

In the three sets matches, freshman Grace Bennett (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett) was clipped by Annie Serkes at No. 3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and Cindy Luo (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) was edged by Autumn Tamlyn at No. 6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3.

Bentley (3-2, 2-2 NE10) will look to bounce back Wednesday when they host Southern N.H.
