Bentley Cruises Past Franklin Pierce 8-1

 

RINDGE, N.H. – Nine different players won matches to help the Bentley women's tennis team defeat Franklin Pierce 8-1 on Friday in the final match of the Northeast-10 regular season.

Bentley won all three doubles matches, and dropped just five games total in the three matches. All five singles winners for the Falcons were in straight sets, and three players only dropped one game.

In doubles, the No. 1 pairing of Rachel Hui (Hong Kong) and Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) were 8-1 winners, as were the No. 3 match team of Rachel Madden (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville). The team of Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) were 8-3 winners in the No. 2 match.

Fabianski and Brandow each won the second match of the day in singles. Fabianski by a 6-4, 6-4 score in the No. 1 match, and Brandow by a 6-1, 6-1 count in the No. 2 match. Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift), Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline) and Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) all won their matches 6-1, 6-0. Von Oldenburg from the No. 4 position, Kamphaus No. 5 and MacLean No. 6.

Bentley closed out the regular season with a 10-5 overall record and a 7-5 N10 record.
